AIDS Researcher Robert Redfield Named CDC Director
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar yesterday named Robert Redfield, M.D., as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Redfield is an AIDS researcher who oversees a program providing HIV care and treatment to Baltimore-area patients, and is professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Redfield replaces Anne Schuchat, M.D., who has served as acting CDC director since Brenda Fitzgerald, M.D., resigned as CDC director in January.
