HHS releases national plan to achieve Cancer Moonshot goal
The Department of Health and Human Services April 3 released a national plan to advance the fight against cancer, which includes strategies to prevent cancer, detect cancers early, develop effective treatments, eliminate inequities, engage people in cancer research, deliver optimal care, maximize data utility and optimize the cancer care and research workforce.
“The National Cancer Plan is a vision and a roadmap for how we can make faster progress against this all-too-common disease,” said Monica Bertagnolli, M.D., director of the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute. “By working together, we can achieve the Cancer Moonshot goal of reducing the cancer death rate by 50% within 25 years.”
